Design Thinking Fundamentals for Leaders - A Level 5 Approach

Level 5 Design Thinking is a Self Inquiry based approach to Design Thinking aimed at enhancing Self Awareness of practitioners during the course of the Design Thinking process . A Self Inquiry based approach ensures that the products and services created out of the Design Thinking effort are Authentic, Purposeful & Sustainable stemming from deep Self Awareness and Empathy of the practitioners themselves . This workshop provides an introduction to Level 5 Design Thinking. The target audience for the workshop are Design Thinking & Innovation practitioners and  those keen  to build a strong foundation on  Design Thinking based on Self Inquiry principles. Those completely new to Design Thinking will get to learn the process "first time right" 

Day One

Lunch Time

  • Design Thinking Competency Levels  

  • What it means to be a level 5 Design thinker 

2pm - 3pm

  • Introduction to I CeDe,I CeDe principle tree   

  • I CeDe Discovery /Empathy. ICEDE Customer immersion, A mock up empathy  

  • Participant immerse in a real time empathy interview

3pm - 4pm

  • Define Phase- process the empathy from participants

  • Case Studies 

  • Importance of framing the right problem - Awareness of Biases that inhibit framing the problem 

  • How Might We / It would be game changing Statement  

4pm-5pm

I Generate (90 Mins)

  • Define Phase- process the empathy from participants

Day two

  • Participants engagement, refresher for last day's topics (30 Mins)

  • Ideation intensive phase (1 Hour): Pushing limits to be creative  

  • Ranking methodology to choose the ideas 

11am - 12pm

  • Building Pretotype (45 Mins): A raw proto for testing the idea

  • Storming test (30 Mins): Each team presents the ideas to other teams  

12pm - 1pm

Lunch Time

1pm - 2pm

  • Develop a prototype with the feedback 

  • How to emphatically test 

2 pm - 3 pm

I Test (30 Mins)

  • Real time testing  

  • Revisiting the ideas and making necessary changes to ideas

3 pm - 4 pm

Closure and Networking

  • Logical conclusion to the workshop 

  • Participants to speak on their experience 

  • Big Picture: Extended workshop pitch - Nudging participants to spread the message - Building network
