Mugendi K.Mrithaa

Prof. Mugendi K. M’Rithaa is a transdisciplinary industrial designer, educator and researcher. He studied in Kenya, the USA, India and South Africa and holds postgraduate qualifications in Industrial Design, Higher Education, and Universal Design. He is widely traveled and has taught in Kenya, Botswana, South Africa and Sweden and is passionate about various expressions of socially conscious design, including Design Thinking;
Designerly Strategies for Mitigating Climate Change; Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability; Distributed Renewable Energy; Indigenous Knowledge Systems; Participatory Design; and Universal/Inclusive Design.

Mugendi has a special interest in the pivotal role of design thinking in advancing the developmental agenda on the African continent. He is a founding member of the Network of Afrika Designers (NAD), and is associated with a
number of other international networks focusing on design within industrially developing (or majority world contexts). Mugendi is also President Emeritus and Convenor of the Senate of the World Design Organization (WDO). Much of his work with the WDO focuses on the importance of supporting the aspirations of [industrial] designers worldwide in the industrial design profession’s collective quest to resolve wicked problems in diverse contexts.

Tori Wu

Tori has worked internationally with more than 20 years professional experience on design business, ( worked in USA, Australia, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, and China) which strengthen and expand the perspective of her professional works. Tori has served clients across a variety of sectors from Government, Retail, Medical Supply, E-commerce, FMCG and Durable etc., which including many World Top 500 companies. Tori has successfully bridged the elements of visual design and business development by blending creative passions, strategic insights and innovative beliefs into the wide range of creative assignments. Her creative works have also recognized by international design awards such iF Germany and Golden Point award. She specializes in analytical and strategic-thinking by utilizing Design Thinking tools to facilitate companies to advance their brand strategy and drive business growth accordingly. With extensive experience in commercial graphic design applications, brand design consulting and brand management, she is leading and supporting clients' engagements involving multiple aspects of Visual Applications and Strategies.

 

Because her professional experience, makes her a guest lecturer for the MBA class of the National Taiwan University and the National Central University.

Ben is a professionally trained and experienced Design Thinker, coach and user researcher who utilises human centred design to work with thoughtful clients to bring people, knowledge, skills and resources together to generate the opportunities that deliver social impact and propel communities to innovate. Having trained at the Hasso Plattner Institute School of Design Thinking (HPI D-School) in Potsdam, Germany and having worked with an array of organisations, Ben is well versed in creating and supporting collaborative ideas and solutions which are not just desirable and impactful but, also finely balance technological feasibility with business viability. Ben holds an MSc Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, is a member of the Interaction Design Foundation and is also a volunteer Hasso Plattner Institute Design Thinking coach. As a coach, Ben has coached Design Thinking/innovation workshops with TedX Oxford Brookes, Vitronic GmbH, and The HPI E-School,  as well as, with HS2 and DK&A.Currently, Ben is based in London, UK and is working on a range of small projects focusing on the topics of Design Thinking, education, cyber security and the future of entrepreneurship.
